Black-capped Chickadee

Black-capped Chickadee

We’re finally getting some warm Spring weather. It’s nice to see and hear the birds swing into the mating season. The Black-capped Chickadees had already starting making their nest inside one of our nesting boxes, but they seemed to really increase their visits to the box. Last year they raised a clutch of five in this box.

But the real start to Spring for me is the return of the swallows. The Violet-green Swallows showed up on Saturday (4/04). They immediately start staking out the nesting boxes, though they won’t start actually nesting for a couple of weeks.
